Measure and Scoop
medir y servir
Scooping and measuring is real kitchen math: more and less, full and empty, big and small. Start with dry oats or rice in a tub.

You need
A tub of dry oats or rice, a big cup and a small cup, a set of measuring cups, a scoop, and a tray with sides.
Make it yours
Fill toy dump trucks, scoop "food" for toy farm animals, or measure sand for a dinosaur dig.
Safety: dry oats and rice are for scooping, not eating. Stay close, since rice is small enough to go in noses and ears. Sweep up together.
Three levels tres niveles
In a tub of dry oats or rice, fill a big cup and a small cup. Which holds more?
Count how many small scoops fill the big cup. Line up measuring cups from biggest to smallest.
Measure for a real recipe: "We need one cup of oats." Level it with a butter knife. Use the half cup twice. Is it the same as one cup?
Ages are a loose guide. Start at Begin if you're not sure, and follow your child.
Say it in Spanish en español
Say the word, point, and let your child point too. You don't need to speak Spanish.
