Little Seasons Home Learning

One Activity, Three Levels

tres niveles

A 2 year old and a 5 year old can do the same activity at the same table. They just do it at different levels. Every activity in Little Seasons Home Learning comes in three: Begin, Build and Stretch.

The three levels los niveles

Begin

For new or younger learners, about 2.5 to 3. Lots of hands-on, few words.

Build

The heart of the activity, about 3 to 4. A little more to count, name or do.

Stretch

For ready learners, about 4 to 5. Plan, explain, compare and try it their own way.

One example: pouring un ejemplo

Begin
Pour a little water from a small pitcher into a big bowl, then pour it back.
Build
Pour into a cup on a tray, and wipe the drips.
Stretch
Pour their own drink at meals, and pour for a guest.

How to tell where your child is observa

Start at Begin when you're not sure
It's never too easy for the first day. Confidence first.
Move up when
They do it on their own, without help, a few days in a row. Each activity names the sign to watch for.
Step back when
It turns into a mess or a fight. Stepping back isn't failing. It's how you keep it fun.
Mix and match
Your child might be at Stretch for counting and Begin for scissors. That's normal.

Why it works for siblings hermanos

You set out one tray. The younger one pours into a bowl while the older one pours for the whole family. Same materials, same Spanish words, one cleanup. You teach once, not twice.
